Principled Negotiation Skills 26 October 2006 at the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation Glencree Co. Wicklow Telephone: 01 2829711 Email: info@glencree.ie The Principled Negotiation Skills course will be facilitated by Michael Doherty from Peace and Reconciliation Group (PRG) Derry. PRG is a community relations organisation that was set up in 1976 to address practical ways to work towards understanding and reconciliation in the context of the conflict in Northern Ireland. They are involved in providing training to support the building of bridges between polarised communities and promote the development of community understanding and co-operation. Aims & Course Content This one day event is designed to give community activists and workers an understanding of the skills required in order to carry out negotiation. 9.30am Introductions Desired Outcomes Expectations/Anxieties 10.00am Define negotiation and mediation 10.50am Why principled negotiation 11.00am BREAK 11.25am The Seven Element Model of Principled Negotiation 1.00pm LUNCH 1.45pm Case Study: Part One (Relationships, Communication and Alternatives) 3.00pm Case Study: Part Two (Interests, Options, Criteria, BATNA and Commitment) 4.00pm Debrief and further questions and answers 4.25pm Evaluation 4.30pm Close Cost €70 includes instruction, coffee/tea breaks, and lunch. €12.50 dinner at Glencree. €30 overnight stay, per person per night. This includes continental breakfast. The bedrooms are mostly shared and en suite.
