Creative Approaches for Addressing Conflict – An Introduction

A two day course that focuses on awareness about personal responses to conflict in our own lives. It also aims to introduce skills to be more creative in addressing conflict and to gain a better understanding of how we might respond.
The course will cover the following areas and the approach used will be a combination of experiential learning, reflection and analysis of practice.
- Personal responses to conflict situations
- Styles of conflict management
- Strategies for dealing with conflict
- Conflict Analysis/Mapping
- Positions/Interests/Needs
- How conflict escalates
- Reflection on personal experience
- Communication skills in conflict management
The course will run from 10am-5pm on each of the two days.
Cost: €120 – includes lunch on both days. Accommodation is available but is not included in this price. Please ask for further information.
Course Trainer/Facilitator
Korey Dyck is a Canadian mediator, facilitator, and trainer with mediation certificates in both conflict resolution (Mediation Services, Winnipeg, CANADA), and victim offender reconciliation (Center for Community Justice, Elkhart, USA). As a university lecturer over five years, he taught in the Conflict Resolution Program at The University of Winnipeg and throughout Canada with Booth College through their Distance Education Program. He is currently an M.Litt/PhD research student at Trinity College Dublin where he is researching the practical aspects of interfaith dialogue in violent societies.
