January 22 2012 - A group of Irish peacemakers has helped resolve gang warfare in disaster-hit Haiti. Members of Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation travelled to the Caribbean nation, parts of which were destroyed in the devastating 2010 earthquake. Former UVF paramilitary Martin Snodden was among those who encouraged gang lords in one of the country's poorest and most dangerous slums to decommission their weapons. January 2012 - Glencree has a new interim CEO; Colin Murphy, who currently chairs our Policy council, has a long history of dedicated involvement with Glencree, having previously held the position of non-executive Chairman of the organisation as well as a number of practitioner roles. He is hugely experienced in and greatly respected by the peace sector.
4 December 2011 - Glencree organised a Political Dialogue Workshop on the theme of Commemorations in light of the fact that there are several significant centenary events happening in the near future (1912 Ulster Volunteers, 1916 Easter Rising and Battle of the Somme to name a few). The event brought together political leaders and community activisits from Ireland north and south to discuss and debate in City Hotel Derry.
December 2011 - Glencree hosted a parliamentary delegation from Turkey last week, bringing them to Dublin and Belfast, to learn from the Irish experience. The issue on the top of the agenda was the Kurdish question.
30 May 2011 - A group of staff, supporters and volunteers met with Glencree's patron, President Mary McAleese at her residence in Aras an Uachtaran in Dublin to acknowledge the work done by the organisation over its thirty year history. The President, a long time supporter of Glencree, is due to complete her final term this year and prraised the work that has been done by the organisation to promote peace within communities in conflict. She also pressed the need for this work to continue with renewed vigour as the need for peace building was now more important than ever.
Galeforce West 2010 -
Garry Nolan, Glencree Council Member and long time supporter, is raising funds for Glencree by taking part in Gaelforce West, a challenging event every August that involves cycling, running, hiking and kayaking. 14 November 2010 - The German Community and other Glencree friends gathered at Glencree to commemorate German Remembrance day. Over 100 people turned out on a beautiful sunny day to pause and reflect on the victims of war. The event was generously sponsored by the German Embassy in Dublin.
11 November 2010 - Glencree presented the annual Peace Award jointly to First Minister Peter Robinson, MLA, and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness MP MLA, in recognition of their personal courage and leadership in peacemaking in Northern Ireland.
5 October 2010 - The schools group, Compass, made up of minority religion schools in Ireland, came to Glencree for a three-day course on Peace Education. This marks the 10th year that Compass has been bringing young people to Glencree for Peace Education.
23-26 September 2010 - The first residential of a Peace Education Project for young people took place at Glencree. This initiative is a collaboration between the Corrymeela Community in County Antrim, the Tim Parry and Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace in Warrington and Glencree and is supported by the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs, Reconciliation Fund.
21-22 September 2010 - The Irish Peace Centres organised a Breathing Spaces event entitled: Beyond the Boom and Bust - Letting in Light and Hope. The aim of this event was to provide space to discuss how faith communities can work with others for the common good. For more information, click here.
10 September 2010 - The Irish Peace Centres organised an Open Space Event, "For Peace", in Belfast. Over 50 people interested in peace and peacebuilding attended the one-day event, finding value in the time and space to set their own agenda and reflect on the current vital issues in their work.

17 August 2010 - Old and New: as some new international volunteers arrive at Glencree for their year-long experience here, some glencree-graduates are also visiting for a mini-reunion. Volunteers founded Glencree in the early days and have sustained the organisation over the years. There is a growing network of Glencree volunteers who have re-connected on facebook: check.
16 August 2010 - Glencree is pleased to announce that it is now registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales under charity number 1137390 and a company limited by guarantee registered in England and Wales, company number 7152448. The Trustees are Denise Collins, Peter Keenan and Jim Myers. As before, Glencree is still a company limited by guarantee in the Republic of Ireland (Company Number: 50088 and registered charity number: CHY5943).
11 August 2010 - We would like to acknowledge the late Hazel Keiley (1952? - 2009) who has recently left a significant legacy donation for Glencree. Hazel was a nurse? at the X Hospice for 20 years and dedicated her life to serving others. Her sister, Deirdre Coats, was an International Volunteer whose experience at Glencree greatly influenced her life.
9-15 August 2010 - Glencree ran a course on Conflict Resolution, Mediation and Peacemaking, facilitated by Geoffrey Correy and held about twice a year at Glencree. Once again we had a good turn out and the participants learned about the Peace Process in Ireland and much more. check.
July 2010 - The Rathmore National School in County Kildare, along with Manguard Plus, have raised a whopping €6,900 to support Glencree's Haiti appeal. The children’s fundraising efforts were significantly enhanced by Manguard Plus, who committed to doubling the amount the children raised. The pupils not only pulled out all the stops to raise the impressive sum of €3,450, but they also learned all about Haiti's geography, history and demographics. Glencree would like to extend a big thank you to everyone at the school, and to Manguard Plus, for their generous contributions.
2-4 July 2010 - The Irish Peace Centres organised at Glencree an introductory workshop for a small group of invited participants on Journey Through Conflict Life Stories.
25-27 June 2010 - A Political Dialogue workshop was held at Glencree for Members of the Legislative Assembly and attended by TDs (Teachta Dala - Members of Parliament) from the Republic of Ireland.
23-25 June 2010 - Celtic Youth Bray spent a few days at Glencree for Peace Education Workshops and other learning.
18 June 2010 - The Sustainable Peace Network and the Irish Peace Centres organised a one day workshop on Adaptive leadership in Barholm, Portaferry.
14 June 2010 - The Peace Boat, a Japanese non-governmental organisation promoting peace around the world, visited Glencree for a day of learning and exchange. This was the 69th voyage of the Peace Boat and ten Hibakusha (atomic bomb survivors) were were on board to raise awareness of nuclear disarmament.
19 May 2010 - a group of NGO managers from Sweden visited us to learn about and analyse Glencree as a case study. We discussed our work, values, mission and vision and how these inform our strategic plan.
15-16 May 2010 - A group of young people from the Dundrum-Dun Laoghaire Youth Services came to Glencree for a residential Peace Education Workshop.
12-13 May 2010 - A Peace III project group from County Louth held their residential workshop at Glencree.
5 May 2010 - Civil society organisations in Ireland who are active in Israel/Palestine met with Glencree to discuss our work and any shared areas of activity. Organisations included Amnesty International, Christian Aid, Traocaire and Coiste. The meeting was facilitated by Geoffrey Corry and will result in better coordination of our work in the region.
4-7 May 2010 - A group from SIT Study Abroad came to Glencree to learn about the Conflict and the peace process. The group learned about social and political conflict transformation.
26 April 2010 - Patty Abozaglo, from the Governance and Human Rights Unit at Trocaire ran a workshop with the Glencree programme team on working with people who have experienced trauma.
26 April 2010 - a group of civil society activists from Afghanistan arrived at Glencree for a study visit. We are taking the group on an educational tour of Northern Ireland to visit nongovernmental organisations active in peacebuilding and community development.
23-25 April 2010 - Glencree's Women's Programme held a training workshop at Glencree for women from the Shankill Road in Belfast and from Tallaght in Dublin.
9-11 April 2010 – The 2010 Sustainable Peace core group came together for a weekend at Kippure in Co. Wicklow as part of their work on cultivating sustainable relationships.
7-8 April 2010 – 30 young people from Wicklow Comhairle na n-Óg came to Glencree for 2 days of experiential learning in peace and reconciliation.
1 April 2010 – The Glencree community come together to remember their dear friend and colleague, Geraldine Fitzgerald, who passed away on 11 March.
20 March 2010 - Ian White and David Bloomfield attended the meeting of the advisory panel to the Foundation for Peace in Warrington.
19 March 2010 - Ian White, International Programme Director, returned from a visit to Haiti where he offered support to our colleagues and partners there following the recent devastating earthquake. He also assessed the current needs for peacebuilding work to identify the best course of action for the Glencree's continued programme there.
8 March 2010 - An international group of volunteer coordinators from Voluntary Services International (VSI) visited Glencree as part of their training week in Ireland.
