29 September 2006 - The Glencree Centre received official certification recognising that our Quality Assurance has been passed by the Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC). Fifty seven other education providers in Ireland, from widely different backgrounds, also received recognition. This means we are now an approved centre and can offer modules and programmes leading to FETAC awards. In the near future we will offer FETAC courses in modules that are directly related to the work of Glencree, as part of our efforts to 'Share the Learning'.
29 September to 1 October 2006 - Glencree's Sustainable Peace Network held a weekend workshop to prepare for their upcoming trip to South Africa.
29 September to 1 October 2006 - A women's community group from Belfast comes to the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation for training by the facilitators of the Glencree Women's Programme. Twenty four women will take part in training sessions on Histories and Identities.
29 September 2006 - The third 'Donegal-Derry Network' meeting is held in Derry City. Thank you to the individuals, community groups and NGO's in attendance.
29 September 2006 - Glencree presents its work to the new Graduate Students at Trinity College's Irish School of Ecumenics.
28 September 2006 - The German room at Glencree is officially opened by Ambassador Christian Pauls.
28 September 2006 - Jan Durk visits Glencree from Fort De Built in The Netherlands to further plan the installation of Peace Works at Glencree, modeled on the Dutch Peace Factory.
27 September 2006 - Communities Connect launched the final report on the ‘Peace by Peace ‘ programme which was run in partnership with Glencree earlier in the year. The event took place in Fairways Hotel, Dundalk and was also a celebration of the varied projects which Communities Connect have been working on. ‘Peace by Peace’ was an opportunity for community development workers to meet and engage in frank discussion and learning on the issues affecting them in cross border work and peace building. Glencree was involved throughout the development and delivery of the programme and it was an interesting and rewarding experience. Sharing experience was a key part of the programme and we have learnt a lot from our involvement. ‘Peace by Peace’ is an attempt to remove the barriers between people and to create a space for active participation in peace building at community level.
25 September 2006 - James Horan, head of the School of Architecture at the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) brought 12 students to survey the Glencree valley. Mairin Colleary, CEO, spoke with the students while they visited the historical buildings that house the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation.
23-24 September 2006 - The LIVE programme held a dialogue workshop at Glencree for victims/survivors of the conflict in Ireland, North and South.
21 September 2006 - H.E. Christopher Westdal, Canadian Ambassador to Ireland, visited the Glencree Centre and saw a presentation of our work. He presented one of Glencree's long-term International Volunteers, Yasar Alashqar, with a Peace Bond to mark the end of Yasar's year at Glencree. 21-22 September 2006 - A Group Facilitation Skills Introductory Course is led by Education Development and Training Officer, Eamon Rafter.
18 September 2006 - Glencree's Peace Education Programme launches its new courses with pupils from Ireland, North and South. Schools groups will visit and take part in the programme through out the school year.
18 September 2006 - Journalist Iñigo Gurruchaga spoke at Glencree about the Basque country - history of the conflict and present situation.
15-17 September 2006 - Glencree's Women's Programme runs its 5th training module of the year.
13 September 2006 - Professor Piet Miering from the University of Pretoria came to Glencree to give a talk and lead a discussion on the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission, on which he served.
4 September 2006 - Induction week kicks off with a new group of International Volunteers. 12 talented individuals from around the world begin their year of Serving and Learning at Glencree.
28-31 August 2006 - Ten students spent a week at Glencree as part of a course run by the School for International Training. American college students learn about the history of The Troubles and Glencree's role and method in building peace and fostering reconciliation.
28-30 August 2006 - Facilitator Training at Glencree prepares 12 people to deliver Glencree's Peace Education Programme.
25-27 August 2006 - 85 people attended Glencree's Annual Summer School. Thank you to all participants and speakers who contributed to the successful event.

21 August 2006 - The LEAP project, supported by the European Union's Equal Initiative, took place at Glencree. The goal is to engage disadvantaged communities with the legal process. Twenty individuals took part in the training and will continue with their legal studies. Mairin Colleary, Glencree CEO, presented a gift to Elizabeth Davidson, LEAP Coordinator (pictured at right). The group of participants are pictured below.

21 August 2006 - a group of 20 students and leaders from Voluntary Service International (VSI) completed a training session at Glencree.
8 August 2006 - A new group of Global Volunteers arrives at Glencree to undertake a building maintanance project.
4 August 2006 - Glencree hosts a farewell reception for departing Canadian Ambassador Mark Moher. A Peace Bench has been installed at Glencree in recognition of his support.
