28th February - 2 March 2007 - Geoffrey Corry taught a module of the Conflict Resolution and Peacemaking Certificate course at the centre. See website for details of future courses, registration forms etc.

28 February – 2 March 2007 - Wicklow Uplands Council worked with Glencree to develop a Youth Project with five county Wicklow schools to foster an understanding of life in the Wicklow Uplands. The programme included a study of recreation facilities, environmental impact of tourism and also approaches to sustainable peacemaking. Glencree is situated high in the Wicklow Hills in an area popular with hill walkers.

26-28 February 2007 - 28 participants from Letterkenny Cross Community School spent three days at Glencree studying Conflict Resolution, Leadership Skills and group work.

22 February 2007 - Ten young people from Blanchardstown Travellers Development Group participated in the Primary School Transition 6th year programme.  This assists participants in moving on to second-level education.

22-25 February 2007 - Walk to Emmaus: Seventy women members of a multi-denominational group visited Glencree for a four-day 'Spiritual walk'.

Click on the image to enlarge21 February 2007 - During one of the darkest months of the year, Diageo Ireland offered Glencree's International Volunteers a trip to the famous Guiness Storehouse. This was a great opportunity for the group to spend some time together off site. Thank you to those who made it possible.

19-20 February 2007 - Under a programme sponsored by Kildare County Council, a group of young people and six leaders, who are setting up a youth forum in the Athy district of Co Kildare, came to Glencree to take the Group work skills course.

15-18 February 2007 - Walk to Emmaus, multi-denominational group of men came to undertake a four day 'Spiritual walk' in the tranquil setting of Glencree.

13 February 2007 - Paul O'Hara, Director of Ashoka Ireland, spoke to the Glencree team about what it means to be a social entrepreneur, particularly in the field of peacebuilding. Ashoka is an international organisation which promotes Social Entrepreneurship by providing fellowships and other types of support.  See www.ashoka.org for details.

15 February 2007An Taoiseach, Mr. Bertie Ahern, T.D. and Minister Dick Roche, T.D. visited Glencree.  The Irish government provides important support to Glencree’s Peacebuilding and Reconciliation work.

9-11 February 2007 - Members of Irish Postgraduate Training Consortium from University College Dublin (UCD) School of Geography met at Glencree over this weekend for a conference. 

8 February 2007 - Glencree’s International Advisory Committee held a one-day meeting to review the strategy of Glencree’s International Programme.

7 February 2007 – The Glencree Network Group co-organised an Information Day with the Shared City Project of the Derry City Council.  The day provided opportunities for networking and sharing information.  Guest Speakers included Jeanette Warke - Shared City Project, Drew Thompson - Deputy Lord Mayor Derry/Londonderry who spoke about his role in community life, and Sandara Kelso-Robb - Lloyds TSB who provided information on accessing available funding.

1 February 2007 - Glencree is participating in a conference entitled: Integration Policy – strategies for a cohesive society, which is a subject linked with Glencree’s  work on sectarianism over the past thirty years.  The Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees are organising the event at Dublin Castle.

31 January 2007 - The British Ambassador to Ireland, Mr David Reddaway, visited Glencree to find out more about our work.  Embassies in Dublin provide important support for Glencree.

29 January 2007 - Participants from SIT – Student International Training- arrived for one week stay at Glencree to learn about the conflict and peace process in Ireland, North and South.

29 January 2007 - A group from Sweden, Global Class, spent a day at Glencree to discuss the conflict and peace process in Ireland, North and south.  Global Class is run by a network of schools in the city of Vasteras in Sweden to facilitate the students’ study of international affairs.

28 January 2007 - Three young women, Karin Brøske, Ida Gjestemoen and Ingri Mack, from Soltun Folkehøgskole, an international school in Norway working for peace, arrived at Glencree for a six week stay.  They are volunteering with Glencree’s Peace Education Programme for six weeks and preparing for a visit by a larger group from Soltun in April.  This keeps up a continuing relationship between Glencree and Soltun.

19-21 January 2007 - The first training module of the 2007 Women’s Programme was held on this weekend.  Nine women took part in useful training and fantastic dialogue.

19-21 January 2007 - Glencree Sustainable Peace Network brought together members of the Network who had been to South Africa in November with the aim of reviewing how the experience was for them and to plan for the activities of 2007.

16-18 January 2007 - 11 participants, mainly Glencree staff and volunteers, took part in a three-day course in First Aid given by the Irish Red Cross.

12-13 January 2007 - Members of the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign held an Annual General Meeting (AGM) to set out aims and discuss activities.

11 January 2007 - Eamon Rafter facilitated a course in conflict resolution for staff of Jobcare.  Jobcare’s remit is supporting people in getting back into the workplace and the staff wished to acquire additional skills in dealing with the issues that arise around this.

9-11 January 2007 - Myrna Lewis came to Glencree to give workshops in Deep Democracy.  Myrna and her late husband Greg developed this methodology for decision-making and conflict resolution in response to changing conditions and needs in post-apartheid South Africa

8 January 2007 - The volunteers began to trickle back after the  holidays. Volunteers are a vital part of the Centre's workforce and come from all parts of the world. Currently we have people from Australia, USA, Germany, Ghana, Haiti among others.
