27-29 April 2007 - The Glencree Women’s Programme held a training weekend for 20 participants.

29 April 2007 - A Youth Exchange Group from Palestine arrived for a programme at Glencree.

23 April 2007 - The Soltun Folkschool arrived at Glencree from Norway for a visit.

13-15 April 2007Nineteen members of South Armagh Women’s Group came to Glencree to take the Train the Trainers course, which is part of the Women’s Programme at Glencree.  The group is part of South Armagh Rural Women’s Network.

12 and 26 May 2007 - a Kenyan group will visit Glencree to facilitate workshops on African culture these two weekends. 

3 April 2007 A delegation of 12 members of the US Congress visited Glencree including the current and former Chairs of the Ireland Friendship Committee, along with the Directors and Chair of the International Fund for Ireland (IFI).  The US government contributes to the IFI, which supports Glencree’s Peace Education Programme, Education Development and Training work, as well as a capital project to build new offices at Glencree.

30 March 2007 - Sheila Cannon spoke on a panel discussion about a very moving play, "Talking to Terrorists" by Robin Soans and performed by Calypso Productions.  The panel was chaired by Dr Chandana Mathur, who lectures in anthropology at Maynooth University.  Also speaking on the panel was Baribre Ni Chaoimh (Artistic Director of the play), Abie Philbin Bowman (columnist and playwright), and Raymond Deane (founding member of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign).  The play gave the audience the experience of talking to 'terrorists'.  Read the article by Sheila Cannon here.

21 March 2007 - A German Navy delegation visited Glencree.  Germany has a long association with the Glencree site.  In the aftermath of World War II several hundred German children then living in difficult circumstances were brought to Glencree and cared for by the Irish Red Cross.  Some were later repatriated while others elected to stay in Ireland.

20 March 2007 - The inaugural meeting of the Glencree Forum took place at Glencree. The purpose is to bring visible and influential support to our work, and to assist Glencree in forming and maintaining relationships with key groups and individuals in wider society. Glencree staff made presentations on the programmes, followed by a dialogue on the strategic direction of this work.

19 March 2007 - 15 student teachers from Froebel College of Further Education took the Glencree course in Conflict Resolution.  Froebel College in Sion Hill was established by the Dominican Congregation and is associated with progressive child-centred education.  It seeks to foster quality teaching, creativity and integration wherever teachers work with children.  The group included five student teachers from a college in Northern Ireland. 

14-16 March 2007 - Geoffrey Corry taught a course in Conflict Resolution.

12 March 2007 - Spanish TV3 Catalonia visited Glencree to learn about our Survivors and Former Combatants Programme.  The channel is making a documentary comparing the situation between areas of conflict in the Basque region, and other countries.  They visited both Belfast and Derry and spoke to Glencree programme participants.

9 March 2007 - John Harding conducted a creative writing workshop with the Glencree team of staff and volunteers.

3 March 2007 - The Glencree Women's Programme held a conference to celebrate the International Women's Day.  The theme of the day was 'The missing voices of women from the margins to the mainstream of political life.'  Fifty-seven women attended for networking, learning and sharing on themes such as how to achieve the most effective and satisfying work/life balance.

7 March 2007 - The British Embassy came to Glencree for their training day.  Groups can book Glencree conference rooms and facilities for training days or for conferences.

1 March 2007 - The Ulster Political Research Group (UPRG) came to Glencree to present their Conflict Transformation Initiative (CTI) to the international community, represented by Ambassadors and other diplomats from Germany, Croatia, South Africa, India, Norway, Switzerland, Pakistan, Palestine, Britain, USA and Canada; apologies were sent from Japanese and Israeli Ambassadors.
