30 October 2006 - The Glencree Peace Education Programme has reached record numbers of bookings with more that 2000 pupils scheduled to participate in the programme at Glencree between September 2006 and June 2007.  This increase reflects a growing interest from schools in participatory learning in themes such as bullying, identity, non-violent conflict, and racism.

27-30 October 2006 - The Loughview Initiatives for Everyone (LIFE) Community Group from Hollywood, County Down, Northern Ireland, visited Glencree for a residential weekend.  The adults  worked to define their community identity and develop a plan for  future actions. The children participated in games and creative workshops to prepare for a Halloween party which took place on Sunday evening. This was the highlight of an enjoyable and successful weekend for the group.

26 October 2006 - Michael Doherty of the Peace and Reconciliation Group (PRG) in Derry delivered a one-day training course for the general public on Principled Negotiation Skills.

26 October 2006 - A group of 10 Delegates from the Sri Lankan Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry spent the afternoon at Glencree with International Programme Co-ordinator, Sean O'Boyle, to learn about the work of our Peace Centre.  Their visit was part of a two week study trip to Ireland and South Africa to meet with representatives from business, government, NGOs and the Chambers network who are involved in peacebuilding initiatives and explored the use of business communities as a conduit in peace processes. Their visit to Ireland was hosted by Chambers Ireland.

26 October 2006 - The Israeli Ambassador to Ireland, Dr.Zion Evrony, visited Glencree to hear about the work of the Centre and to discuss our Middle Eastern initiatives.  The diplomatic community in Dublin provide important political support to our programme work

25 October 2006 - Mary Akrami, Director of The Afghan Women Skills Development Center visited Glencree from Afghanistan and shared her experiences of Community Development with Women and Peacebuilding work in her native Afghanistan.  Her Irish colleague, Terence O'Mally, Chairman of Support for Afghan Further Education (SAFE), presented some of the historical and socio-political context.

18 October 2006 - Glencree's International Advisory Committee met and reviewed Glencree's current International Programme.  Valuable feedback was given by the 16-member committee of international and Irish experts.

18 & 25 October 2006 - Eamon Rafter, Education Development and Training Officer, facilitated a learning session for Glencree's International long-term Volunteers.

13 & 20 October 2006 - Connor Crawley of Resolve Consultancy based in Bray, Co. Wicklow, delivered Deep Democracy training at the Centre for the Glencree staff.

9-12 October 2006 - Mr Padraig O'Sabhain of the Galway Youth Federation delivered Child Protection Training at Glencree for all staff and volunteers.  Glencree has a Child Protection Policy  in place and all staff receive annual training and refresher courses.

6 October 2006 - a new Global Volunteer team arrives at Glencree.  They are ten women bringing fresh perspectives and energy to the Glencree team!
