24 October 2008 - Eamon Rafter and Phil Killeen, Glencree Staff, facilitated a group of traveller women from the training network: the Tullamore Travellers' Movement. They ran a session on working with conflict using a situation taken from the Diversity Training Mannual of the Guarda Siochana.

24 October 2008 – Glencree bids farewell to Norwegian Ambassador in Dublin with a dinner reception at Glencree's Armory Café.  H.E. Mr. Truls Hanevold has participated in Glencree’s International Advisory Committee while in Dublin, and has given much advice and support to our programme work.

20 October 2008 – Dawn Purvis, MLA, and Pat Farrell, CEO of the Irish Banking Federation, organised a business lunch at Stormont Castle in support of Glencree and the Sustainable Peace Network.  The speaker was Minister Nigel Dodds, MLA, MP, and Minister for Finance in the Northern Ireland Executive.  Over 70 people attended, participating in a tour and sitting in on the Assembly session.  Thank you to the businesses and individuals who gave their time and support to make this day such a success!

October 2008 – a Japanese film crew is recording our work and interviewing participants for a documentary on Sustainable Peace. 

2 October 2008 – A team of 8 Glencree Facilitators delivered a one-day workshop as part of the British Council’s Transatlantic Network 2020.  100 young leaders from diverse sectors in Europe and North America were selected to take part in a week-long conference in Belfast and Dublin.  Glencree ran a day of Human Encounter.  Click here to see the video.

30 September to 2 October 2008 – COMPASS, an association of schools across Ireland for minority religions, participated in a Peace Education course at Glencree.

27-28 September 2008 – The first residential workshop of this year's Sustainable Peace Group took place.  Twenty people gathered to begin a year long journey to grow the Sustainable Peace Network. 

26 September 2008 - Glencree welcomed the Captain, First Lieutenant and members of the crew from the German Military Ship "Gorch Fock" along with 2 Irish Navy personal and Mr Holger Osterrieder, First Secretary to the Germany Embassy.  They presented Glencree with a plaque in remembrance of the visit of the German Sailing Training Ship which docked in Dublin from the 24th September until the 10th October.  The visit to Glencree was preceded by a wreath laying ceremony at the Germany Graveyard.

22-25 September 2008 Students from St Angela's College in Sligo came to Glencree to engage in peace education as part of their teacher training course.

19 September 2008 – The Nigerian Ambassador to Ireland, H.E. Dr. Kemafo N. Chikwe, visited Glencree with the Nigerian Diaspora Group. 

19-21 September 2008 – A group of 20 women from local communities in North and East Belfast came to Glencree to participate in the 4th Module of the Women's Programme, including training in Alternative Dispute Resolution and Negotiation.

14 September 2008 - A team from the Dublin Local Group came to Glencree for a week to paint conference rooms and bedrooms.  They are a volunteer organisation that is part of Voluntary Service International (VSI), the Irish branch of Service Civil International (SCI) founded in 1920, a worldwide movement working for peace and international understanding through the medium of voluntary work, international exchanges and awareness programmes.  The team consisted of: Ed, Bridget, Antonia, Tom, Sean and Lydia.

12 September 2008 - A delegation from the International Fund for Ireland and USAID visited Glencree.  The IFI has supported much of Glencree's work over the years including two building projects, the Peace Education Programme and Education Development and Training at Glencree.

2 September 2008 – Glencree’s Annual Golf Classic was held in the rain at the Powerscourt Golf Club!  24 teams came out to show their support on the day.  Thank you to all the companies and individuals who participated.
