Paul joined the Board of the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation in 2020 and is currently the Chair of the Glencree Audit & Risk Committee. Paul is a risk, compliance, corporate governance, data protection and (re)insurance professional. He has worked for thirty-five years in the (Re)Insurance industry, over eighteen of those years in risk and compliance roles. Paul has worked for many of the largest insurers including Zurich, Fortis, RSA, AIG, AmTrust and he is currently AXA XL Insurance SE’s Head of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs, Europe. Paul was also on the faculty of the National College of Ireland, where he wrote a Commercial General Insurance Textbook and lectured in Financial Services.
Academically, Paul has an MBA from the Manchester Business School and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of London, he is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a Chartered Insurer, he has a Professional Diploma in Compliance and in 2018, he successfully obtained a Certificate in Data Protection from University College Dublin. Originally from Drogheda, Paul now lives in County Wicklow with his wife Derval and their two adult children. To relax, Paul plays guitar, sings in a local choir and enjoys walking and cycling in the Wicklow countryside.
